Now that music and wine matching is old news, how about art and wine?

Field blend and wild yeast – Jackson Pollock.  A rigorous integration of carefully vinified single plots – Piet Mondrian.

One of the world’s most famous artists, surrealist Salvador Dali, lived in Figueres, Northern Spain and was passionate about pink Cava

His favourite producer was Castillo Perelada, whose sparkling wine he served to guests.

Castillo Perelada was awarded Best Cava at Wines from Spain Awards 2012. Buy from Field & Fawcett.

London Spanish bar and restaurant group, Camino is opening a dedicated Cava bar. See info on Camino and the new Cava bar.

Castillo Perelada is in the Emporda region, on the beautiful Costa Brava in northern Spain, close to Barcelona.

The Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation created a pink Cava, Torre Galatea to commemorate the friendship between the artist and the founder of Bodega Castillo Perelada, made from Pinot Noir, Monastrell (aka Mourvedre) and local grape Trepat.

Dali was famous for his quotes. Perhaps the one that applies to winemaking as well as art is – ‘Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.’
